Underwriting agencies operate in competitive markets where performance can shift quickly, and pricing capability is a key driver of both resilience and growth.

This session takes a practical, end-to-end view of key pricing concepts and their application within differing contexts. Recognising that MGAs vary widely in size, classes of business and pricing maturity, we focus on core principles that apply broadly, alongside pragmatic pathways to uplift capability in line with each agency’s context. We’ll bring this to life through illustrative case studies and examples, and share common pitfalls, limitations, and lessons learned from working with both MGAs and capacity providers.

Through the discussion, we will cover an end-to-end view of pricing processes including data, modelling, rate setting, go-to-market implementation (including rating engines), and ongoing monitoring and feedback loops, all supported by fit-for-purpose governance. We’ll show how stronger pricing practices enable not only timely course correction, but also more confident decision-making, sharper competitive positioning, and better-informed capacity conversations.
