Out of Office, Open to Attack? Cyber Risk Over the Holiday Break

Monday 16 November @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Presenter:

  • Nia Pir, Relationship Manager

An urgent supplier payment. A request from the boss who’s away. A ransom demand when the office is closed. How could cybercriminals exploit the holiday break and what could it cost a business?

Through illustrative scenarios, this session will explore how Christmas and summer working arrangements can create opportunities for cybercrime. Presenters will connect the business consequences to relevant areas of cyber cover, including cybercrime, cyber extortion, business interruption and incident response, highlighting considerations that can affect how a policy responds.

Brokers will leave with practical examples to help explain the value of cyber insurance and open timely conversations with SME clients.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify how holiday absences and changes to business routines can create opportunities for cybercriminals.
  • Explain the potential financial and operational consequences of payment fraud and ransomware.
  • Relate these scenarios to relevant areas of cyber cover and recognise that policy terms affect the response.
  • Use seasonal examples to introduce cyber insurance in SME client conversations.
