The Lloyd’s Development Group (LDG) is pleased to invite applications for the upcoming Underwriting Workshop – a full-day, hands-on learning experience designed for emerging portfolio managers and professionals keen to build fundamental skills in portfolio management.

Workshop Overview
This full-day workshop is designed to build essential portfolio management skills through real-world simulation. Participants will be grouped into teams representing fictional insurance companies. Together they will respond to evolving market scenarios and make strategic decisions that impact their portfolio performance. Participants will gain insight into how underwriting decisions are shaped by external market forces and internal strategy, while developing teamwork and decision-making skills.

Facilitators

• Jillian Chung, Senior Client Underwriter at Swiss Re, brings a unique blend of actuarial and treaty underwriting experience across the US and ANZ markets. Jillian has worked on diverse portfolios and is passionate about developing underwriting talent and fostering strategic thinking in emerging professionals.
• Malcolm Newberry, National Liability Portfolio Manager at Suncorp, is a seasoned insurance professional known for his practical, market-informed approach to underwriting education. Malcolm has led strategic initiatives across multiple markets and brings a wealth of insight into emerging risks and portfolio dynamics.

Who Should Attend

This workshop is ideal for early-career professionals in underwriting, broking, claims, or portfolio management roles. We encourage applications from members with some experience in underwriting or portfolio management, ideally under five years.
