Environmental exposures can arise from everyday business activities — not just in the obvious industry sectors. Yet Environmental Impairment Liability (EIL) remains one of the most under-discussed and underestimated risks in many insurance programmes.

Pollution exposures are frequently overlooked in broker discussions with clients and are often excluded or limited within traditional property and liability policies.

This session provides a practical introduction to environmental liability insurance, explaining how pollution events trigger coverage, where common coverage gaps exist, and how specialist EIL policies can respond to both first-party clean-up costs and third-party liabilities.

Through real-world examples, the session will help brokers better recognise environmental exposures and start more informed conversations with clients about managing pollution risk.
