Cuttleflow Marketplace: win clients online, then submit once and quote from every market

Presenter:
- Max Broodryk, Founder and Executive Director, Cuttleflow Systems
This session starts with the client acquisition tools that Cuttleflow provides for brokers:
- Industry pages and enquiry forms that run on the broker’s own website.
- A shareable link and QR code.
- A client app.
As a business owner fills in a submission or an enquiry, on the website or in the app, they can see an indicative or binding quote, depending on what our participating underwriters have set up. The broker receives the enquiry with the answers already filled in as a warm, qualified lead.
It then shows how the Cuttleflow Marketplace handles placement. The broker submits the risk once, on a standard question set and wording. Underwriting agencies and insurers receive complete submissions, checked against their own appetite rules, and price them on the platform, in their own rater or through an API. The broker compares quotes side by side and binds on the platform.
Brokers can place a comprehensive range of 25 insurance classes in eight product groups through the Marketplace, subject to underwriter participation in each class. All are on open Commons wordings:
- Professional indemnity: professional indemnity (with profession wordings), financial services professional indemnity, technology liability.
- Management liability, D&O, crime and cyber: directors and officers, Side A D&O, management liability, investment managers, comprehensive crime, cyber.
- Medical: allied health, medical establishments.
- Liability and construction: public and products liability, excess of loss, construction all risks and liability.
- Business, property and cargo: business package, strata, marine cargo.
- Motor: commercial motor (single vehicle to fleet), private motor.
- Accident and travel: personal accident and sickness, group personal accident and sickness, corporate travel, travel.
- Home and landlords: home and contents, landlords.
- Excess of Loss insurance.
The session is built around an interactive walkthrough, so participants see each step as a client, a broker and an underwriter. It closes with how brokers and agencies can take part.
Learning Objectives
- Describe the client acquisition tools available to a broker, and how an online enquiry reaches the broker with the client’s answers already filled in.
- Explain how website and app enquiry forms can show indicative or binding quotes to a client while the client completes the form.
- Describe how a standard question set and wording changes the submission process for specialty lines, and how appetite rules filter what each agency receives.
- Compare quotes from several markets on a like-for-like basis, and assess the practical steps for a broker or agency taking part in the Marketplace.
Some products and features described in this session are still in development, in Beta, or subject to Cuttleflow’s AFSL application. Wordings are working drafts subject to legal review. Availability and timing may change. Cuttleflow is software: agencies, brokers and underwriters advise, quote and bind under their own licences and authorisations.
